Do I like to travel?
On one hand I really enjoy well planned trips. The days seem fuller than those spent cocooned at home. The memories are lasting. And I get great materials for my blog.
On the other hand I don’t like the preparation leading up to the trips. As a guy who likes to have things well planned out, I concern about things that might go wrong. And they have before.
I guess I like the “during” portion of travelling and not the “before”. That is, if things go as planned.
A friend once remarked that I could go into the consultant line. I am still (relatively) young, and I don’t have kids to worry about (though I have a dog). The money would be better than what I am getting as an engineer. I could go places and meet different people on company’s dime. Heck, it might even be a better career choice than my current dead-end offshoring trap.
But if I do go into the consultant line, I won’t get to enjoy my new house and certainly not my home-theater system. I won’t really have a home to go back to. Life would also be more hectic, I imagine.
Still, I might like it once I get used to the lifestyle. Who knows?
Then again, I have been jumping back and forth between Asia and US all my life. Each jump signified a drastic change in my life. There are things I miss about each and every phase. It’s too bad I can’t have the best of each stage together at the same time, preferably now.
