Woohoo, according to this link, us AT&T DSL customers can access free WiFi from Starbucks starting May 1st!
I wonder if this service extends all the way to Singapore, in which I will be vacationing for 2 weeks? Or maybe Taiwan for that matter? Guess “nation wide” refers to US.

Terminator 2 has been one of my favorite movies, as indicated in an earlier post. Terminator 3 then came along in 2003 and ruined the Terminator franchise for me. Fortunately, I now have Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles (T:SCC in short; official website; Wikipedia entry) to salvage my interest in Terminators.
I first read about T:SCC the TV series last year. I was not very interested initially, but towards December 2007 I started to anticipate the pilot that would come in January. Now that I have viewed the complete 2-hour pilot (in HD no less), I must say I am not disappointed. At all.
If I were a writer, T:SCC episodes would probably be filled with a new terminator getting blown up in a new way every week. Luckily I am not a writer, otherwise I wouldn’t want to watch T:SCC myself. The T:SCC pilot (hour one and two) that actually aired contained more unexpected twists than T3 the movie - in a way it had to if T:SCC is to last a few seasons. Moreover, T:SCC fixed some T3 elements that I particularly disliked, e.g. Sarah Connor now survives past 1997. Sure, the storyline is not perfect, but it’s still entertaining entertainment.
It doesn’t hurt either that the T:SCC actresses are more likable than those in T3.
I eagerly look forward to next week’s episode. Fox, please do not terminate T:SCC.
I haven’t cared for Miss World, Miss Universe, or Miss Space-Time-Continuum since the early 90’s, but this blog entry caught my attention while I was clearing through my RSS subscriptions:
I had always thought that ladies from English-as-Nth-language countries would never win in westerners-sponsored-and-therefore-favored beauty pageants. (India is not exactly a typical non-English speaking Asian country.) Finally in 2007 I am happily proven wrong.
Transformers trailer number 2 is now available and it’s totally awesome! Watch the low-res streaming version if you are impatient to wait for the HD versions, but the wait is worth it. I had some trouble playing the HD QuickTime version until I downloaded the official player from Apple.com.
Starscream tumbling in mid air into a F22 is superb. And is that Optimus Prime battling Scorponok near the end of the trailer?!
I just finished watching “Thank You for Smoking” and have one word to describe this comedy: smart! This is an upfront, funny movie that, as the DVD extra explains, “does not apologize for itself” and yet gets the points across. It’s refreshing to see something that throws political correctness out the window and yet is not offensive. Professional spin doctors are just amazing, as long as none of them is coming for me, of course.
And for once, the DVD extras are worth their megabytes.
“Thank You for Smoking” is a gem, especially after watching “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” last night.
I practiced my typing skills with QWERTY Warrior the Flash game and quite enjoyed every second of the few minutes I spent. The objective is to type the enemies to death before they come close enough to inflict damage on your dude. There are power-ups and bombs to collect via, what else, more typing.
