I liked this year’s Olympic opening ceremony. I thought it was simply amazing, contrary to what one of my badminton buddy thinks.
My favorites were:
- 2008 drummers
- Fireworks footprints - though the badminton buddy said it was pre-recorded (or fake?)
- The giant scroll and LED screen
- The painting, from blank canvas to finished scenery covered with footsteps
- The synchronized movements and the discipline of the flag bearers
- The final torch relay all the way to lighting the giant Olympics torch
I stuck with the entire show except for 10 or 15 minutes during the parade of athletes, right after I saw the Singaporean contingent.
[Update @ 2008-08-15T09:37-8:00] Some nicer photos of the ceremony posted here.
You didn’t mention the print blocks. That’s my favorite besides the drummers.
I didn’t understand the print blocks at first because my TV reception zoned out during broadcast.
